Position Overview:
The Pastry Commis Cook supports the pastry team in preparing and presenting high-quality desserts, pastries, and confections. This role involves assisting in daily operations, maintaining cleanliness and efficiency in the pastry kitchen, and ensuring adherence to the hotel’s quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pastry Preparation and Baking:
    1. Assist in preparing doughs, batters, mousses, and fillings as per recipes and instructions.
    1. Bake and assemble pastries, cakes, tarts, and other desserts to meet quality standards.
    1. Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure consistent results.
  2. Decoration and Presentation:
    1. Decorate and garnish pastries and desserts with attention to detail and creativity.
    1. Ensure desserts are visually appealing and align with the hotel’s presentation standards.
    1. Prepare and plate desserts for buffets, à la carte service, and special events.
  3. Hygiene and Cleanliness:
    1. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen, tools, and equipment.
    1. Follow food safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients.
    1. Participate in routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to uphold hygiene standards.
  4. Inventory and Supplies:
    1. Assist in measuring and mixing ingredients accurately.
    1. Monitor and report stock levels to ensure uninterrupted pastry production.
    1. Properly store raw materials and finished products to maintain freshness and quality.
  5. Collaboration and Development:
    1. Work closely with senior pastry chefs to learn and enhance skills.
    1. Assist in developing new pastry recipes and concepts as directed.
    1. Contribute to maintaining a positive and productive kitchen environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a pastry kitchen or bakery is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, recipes, and tools.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions with precision.
  • Physical stamina to work long shifts and handle heavy equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in baking or culinary arts is a plus.
