Position Overview:
The Bakery Commis Cook assists the bakery team in preparing a variety of baked goods and desserts to meet the high standards of Treffen House Hotel. This role focuses on supporting daily bakery operations, ensuring consistency, freshness, and presentation, while adhering to the hotel’s quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and Baking:
- Assist in preparing doughs, batters, fillings, and icings as per recipes and instructions.
- Bake bread, pastries, and desserts, ensuring consistent quality and taste.
- Operate and maintain bakery equipment, such as ovens and mixers, effectively and safely.
- Product Quality and Presentation:
- Decorate and finish baked items to enhance visual appeal.
- Prepare bakery products for buffets, room service, or specific events.
- Ensure all products meet the hotel’s quality standards before serving.
- Inventory and Supplies:
- Assist in tracking and replenishing bakery ingredients and supplies.
- Ensure proper storage of ingredients to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage.
- Follow portion control practices to minimize waste.
- Hygiene and Cleanliness:
- Maintain cleanliness of the workstation, tools, and equipment at all times.
- Follow food safety regulations, including proper storage, labeling, and sanitation.
- Participate in routine cleaning schedules and ensure hygiene standards are upheld.
- Collaboration and Development:
- Work closely with senior bakers and pastry chefs, assisting in new recipe development.
- Participate in staff training sessions to improve techniques and efficiency.
- Support the culinary team during high-demand periods or special events.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques, recipes, and tools.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to handle long shifts and lift heavy baking trays.
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in baking or culinary arts is an advantage.

Salary Range:
